At the junction of the three valleys of Lauze, Oriège and Ariège, carved out by the rivers of the same names, the Aubean basin is an ideal location for a spa treatment.

Hot springs have always gushed forth naturally in the commune. In 1260, on the orders of King Saint Louis, Count Roger IV built a leprosarium near the Bassin des Ladres, which has since become a historic monument, to cure soldiers of leprosy contracted during the Crusades.

Cutting through the granite to the surface, the spring waters are loaded with silica, sodium, sulfur and sulfur, making them especially suitable for rheumatology, ENT and respiratory tract treatments. Containing numerous trace elements, the waters of this Ariège spa are the hottest in the Pyrenees (between 72° and 78°C). Exceptionally rich sulfur springs and plenty of sunshine make Ax-les-Thermes the perfect place for a spa treatment.

LE TEICH

This establishment, originally inaugurated in 1893, was renovated as part of the municipality’s spa development plan. This operation led to a number of developments that enabled the town to become a major spa resort.

The project went far beyond a simple facade refurbishment to include an in-depth restructuring of the building. The work focused on accessibility for people with reduced mobility, with the installation of an elevator, the reorganization of various areas, the refurbishment of furnishings and, above all, the acquisition of the latest technology to ensure the comfort of curists.
